As with any Christian material, there may be things you don’t agree with theologically or missionally.
Proceed with grace and you will benefit from the book, course, or teaching.

Book Club

Book Club happens during the summer for approximately 2 months between the 4th of July and Labor Day. These Books Club gatherings take the place of our normal microchurch meetings during this time period.

Several Book Club options are made available to participate in over 2, 4, 6, or 8 week blocks depending on the length of the chosen book. Topics may include practical Christian living, evangelism, theology, biblical languages, textual studies of Scripture, as well as our Foundations for Discipleship series.

This is also designed as a way for individuals from different microchurches to engage with each other during Book Club.

Foundations for Discipleship

Those verifying they have read all 12 Foundations for Discipleship series books listed below, will be awarded a Foundations for Discipleship certificate. While these can be read on your own, you will benefit more by reading through and discussing them with a group. Foundations for Discipleship books will be regularly offered during Summer Book Club.

Other Independent Study Series for additional certificates are also available

It should be noted that Discipleship is ultimately about what you do and who you are, rather than what you know. For example, you can study about prayer, but are you actually praying? You can learn how to share the gospel, but do you share it? In addition to knowing and doing, there must be a spiritual element of passion and motivation sparked by the Holy Spirit. Without this, a focus on doing becomes legalism. These three elements can be illustrated as head (knowing), heart (passion/motivation), and hands (doing). All three are necessary to truly live the life of a disciple.

The following titles comprise the books included for the Foundations for Discipleship certificate.

This book addresses two flawed views of baptism. The first view is that baptism is optional, being nothing more than an external ceremony. The other view is that baptism is the summit of our spiritual endeavors.

But in the Bible, baptism is not the summit of the Christian life but only its crucial starting point, after which comes a lifelong process of spiritual growth that is vital for salvation and is full of blessings.
